The Bohndiek lab was awarded a £1.1 million grant as part of the EPSRC Healthcare Technologies Challenge Award. The funded project will continue to Bohndiek Labs work developing multidimensional endoscopy for early cancer detection, and will look to improve the use of endoscopes; long, flexible tubes with a light and video camera to detect oesophageal or lung cancers, by designing specialist video cameras. The cameras will be designed to detect properties of light that human eyes are blind to, and will also allow for quick analysis of tissue taken out of the body before it is sent to a pathologist to check for cancer. The project is led by CMIH investigator Sarah Bohndiek.
